Cycling in Fife
Cycling is one of the fastest growing participation activities in Fife. With our beautiful open spaces, hills and purpose built facilities Active Fife is here to support the development and growth of cycling across the Kingdom. Cycling is a fantastic activity for all ages and our aim is to make cycling accessible and easy to do across Fife.
80% of our nurseries now deliverPlay on Pedals. Our local ClubFife clubs Carnegie Cyclones, Middleden Bike Club, Meedies Bike Club as well as adult club Dunfermline Cycling Club offer qualified coach led sessions for beginners upwards. These clubs work directly with the National Governing Body Scottish Cycling to create a development pathway for sport and recreational riders, officials and volunteers of all ages.
ClubFife support is open to all clubs and groups that includes work on governance, qualifications, first aid, PCS, sports specific training, networking, funding and events. We also support event organisers to promote and attract events to Fife for example the British National Road Race series hosted by Spokes Racing team, Muckmedden Events Mountain Bike Festival as well as many regional cycling and triathlon events that happen weekly across the Kingdom.
Particular focus is placed on women and girls. Platform is a Spirit of 2012 funded initiative that works with girls and young women to develop confidence, self esteem, cycling skills and a sense of adventure. This project is demonstrating fantastic results for individuals who are offered the opportunity.
2018 brings the opening of Scotland’s first cycling circuit. Fife Cycle Park attracts national and local interest and provides a traffic free environment for all levels of cycling activities to take place. From toddlers on balance bikes to older adults returning to cycling. Specific details can be found at Fife Cycle Park
