Active Families – Fife Pilgrim Way Challenge 2021

During lockdown we want everyone to get out and keep active. We are challenging families across Fife to virtually travel Fife’s 70 mile long “Pilgrims Way” as part of your daily exercise.
– EVERYONE in your household can take part
– The aim is to walk every day at a pace that suits you
– Can be walked or wheeled! (e.g.wheel chairs, buggies, walking frames, scooters or bikes!)
– This can be done on local paths, around your local park or in your garden
– You can use pedometers, walking apps, fitbits or smart watches to count your steps
– You can do this as an individual or get together with your household or remotely with your friends/work colleagues and complete this as a team challenge, splitting the distance between you
– Keep track of your progress using our printable map and colour in the footsteps to see how far you can get
Are you up for the challenge?

Go For Gold 2020!

Care settings across Fife have completed a Go for Gold challenge since 2012, which was set up as a legacy from the London Olympics and the World Congress on Active Ageing.
This year more than ever, we needed a positive fun event to highlight the great work that was happening across Fife Care homes, despite the restriction.
So, …………we went Virtual and were delighted when over 500 residents from 39 care settings took part.
The attached short video captures the passion and enthusiasm of the amazing work that is going on in Fife to keep our Older Adults moving, to improve their strength, balance, physical and mental health. Not to forget the competitive nature that our wonderful athletics demonstrated – age has no boundaries!

Active Families

Our Active Families summer programme for outdoor activities has been developed in line with the recent Scottish Government guidance. Families from the same household are now allowed to travel to access outdoor leisure and exercise. These activities will take place across Fife, making it easy to find something to do close to home. And the best thing is, they’re all free!
